Solar Chill

About

The Solar Chill project aims to construct a 1.5 kW off-grid solar photovoltaic structure with sustainable seating located in the North Campus of UC San Diego, between Eleanor Roosevelt College and the Village, right next to the Campus Loop shuttle stop. The site will provide by-passers a space to de-stress and recharge their electronic devices as well as their bodies. Our main components consist of six solar panels assembled like a flower on top of a curved structure and reclaimed Torrey Pine wood planks above two gabion benches. The gabion fences are wired enclosures filled with rocks. Our mission is to provide a safe haven and increase knowledge of sustainable energy alternatives in efforts of promoting campus unity.
